The 8th spay and neuter program took place during the week of April 20-26, 2023, for the municipalities of Ziros, Preveza and Parga in western Greece.
In collaboration with municipalities and local volunteers, a total of 257 dogs, both male and female were spayed and neutered over these six days.
Spaying and neutering is an investment in the future of every dog, but not only. It is also an investment in a better future for all dogs, for their well-being as a species.
In Greece, the overpopulation of strays is not just a statistical truth that we know theoretically, it is a reality that we see with our own eyes every day, in every part of Greece. In every village, in every city, in every mountain, in every dump, on the outskirts and margins of our homes, and of life itself.
N]Spaying and neutering is the only solution. The fewer unwanted dogs are born, the more opportunities they have to live with dignity, and with the possibility of a chance for a better life.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our veterinarians Christos Ktenas, Thodoris Bamblenis, Amanda Pilissa, Lazaros Karanasios, Kyriaki Ioannou, Dimitris Trakas and Nikos Rossos, who offered their services voluntarily, to our volunteers who worked non-stop for twelve hour shifts for days, to the local volunteers of these areas, and of course to all of you who support us.
The 257 dogs that were neutered will have a chance for a better life, in a beautiful place that we really loved, no matter how much it hurt us.
The 8th sterilization action was funded entirely by us. In a beautiful place in Lake Ziros provided by the Municipality, a veterinary clinic was set up from the beginning, with all the necessary equipment that we transported from Athens, and in two separate rooms a waiting area for the animals and an infirmary were set up.
The spay and neuter programs we do called "with endless love for strays" are for us one of our most important programs. They started in 2018, and continue to this day. We try to do at least two a year, preferring areas of Greece with a large number of stray animals and basic problems in their management.
Of the 257 dogs neutered this time, 17 adults and many puppies traveled with us to Athens, and will seek their forever home once they complete their examinations and treatments.
