TOBY (reserved)
Toby is a child. As a happy child, he feels, behaves like a happy child, and rejoices like a happy child. If you like happy, innocent, pure dogs that give the impression they will never grow old, even if they live for twenty years, he is the ideal one.
He will always be eager, he will always be excited about whatever you do together, he will make you smile and think, 'I wish I were a dog too, and that things were that simple in my mind.'
He enjoys company, enjoys people, enjoys walks, has the smile of a small child and a pure heart. When we interact with him at the shelter, he is incredibly happy.
Sometimes he gets a bit brushed, in the summer he enjoys a bath just to cool off, and then he gets dried with a towel (accompanied by a petting like 'sorry for the trouble'), and all of this he does not for any specific reason, just because we want to spend a little more time with him.
In the midst of all this, he does a couple of commands he knows, a bit of the 'sit' that he does perfectly, and a bit of 'come back' that he also does perfectly, at least inside the shelter (when he hears his name, he comes running all happy and gets a treat).
Toby is the little dog that makes you laugh, that makes you want to play with him, the little dog that makes you forget anything unpleasant that might be happening to you, and simply enjoy the joy of life.
He is a butter dog, who allows you to scrunch him up, to lift him into your arms, to cuddle him. He has an incredible trust in people, as if they are all his friends from school and as if life is an eternal weekend. He loves walks, loves human companionship, and loves life.
It's as if nothing unpleasant has passed over him, neither a dog shelter, nor hunger, nor pain. Nothing. As if there is nothing in this world that could take away the joy he has inside him.
Among the many puppies we got from the public pound of Sparta was him. So we thought at least initially, but the little one was not a puppy.
Toby was a young teenager, about a year old, and when he first arrived, he was so small and cute that he looked like a 3-month-old puppy. His back legs looked very crooked then, but that didn't stop him from running and playing as if nothing was wrong.
One of his legs had a broken bone that was no longer operable, resulting in the bone healing incorrectly and the leg being shorter. This causes both of his hind legs to appear crooked.
Toby needs to exercise moderately to avoid pain, and since he is a dog that is people-oriented, he can go for moderate walks and expend energy gently with his owner for a few minutes each day. He enjoys working with his mind very much, and this can keep him happy without needing to run and play.
He takes some supplements for his joints and if his legs get tired he sometimes takes an anti-inflammatory.
It hurts us that this dog, who is truly a joy of life, has lived with pain since he was a puppy, but the pain has never managed to steal his joy and his smile, and that is the most important thing. He is truly a very companionable dog, who will love you and whom you will love.
He will bring you smiles every day and will give you his soul if you provide him with the care and love he needs so much.

VICTOR (reserved)
Victor came from the public pound of Sparta, together with his three sisters.
These four little dogs suffered perhaps more than any other animal there. Not because they were in worse conditions than the rest, not because they were sicker than others, but because their temperament could not stand the conditions at all, not for a minute.
These dogs suffered mentally every hour and every moment, and they showed it with every movement of their bodies, with their every gaze. Injustice, terrorism and passive abuse seemed literally painted on their faces and bodies.
We thought they were puppies, but they are not. They are four adult puppies, tiny and young, probably siblings, and have the sensitivity and kindness of a toddler.
Of the four, Victor and one girl were from the beginning the most courageous. Timidly he began to approach us, smell us, began to wag his tail and be happy, and now he is incredibly joyful and sweet.
He is vaccinated, neutered and healthy according to her latest tests.
VIDEO of his story

Polly (reserved)
We've said it before that dogs bloom from somewhere inside them.
They may remain the same in appearance as they were before, but the difference in look, smile, freshness of happiness is so huge that many times you do not recognize the dog you thought you knew.
One such example is Polly. We met her at the public pound of Tripoli as a serious, calm dog, who did not expect much or ask for much. Her gaze was deep and her face serious. Polly is now with us and Polly is now another dog.
She laughs and shines throughout, has the enthusiasm of a puppy and the freshness of a spoiled dog.
She looks like she is something between a Labrador and a hound, from one parent she got her ears, the red-blond color and the round head and from the other she got the profile of her face, the stinging skin that you pinch and has excess, the texture and length of her wool.
Once she sees you, she will act as if he knows you. It is

Simba (reserved)
If we were to choose only one dog from the shelter that we would give away with our eyes closed, it would be him. He is perfect in every way; we have no other words to describe him.In his body, as in the bodies of many dogs, lie the marks of his past.
Every dog hides a story that reveals its inner strength, and it also reflects the morality of the people who failed them along the way.Simba encountered the worst people. He has been shot and has shotgun pellets embedded in his thigh, as well as BBs. Shot twice and betrayed twice, yet he stands on his feet and is one of the most balanced dogs we have.
One or two of these pellets partially caused a neuroprackson of the sciatic nerve in his left leg at some point, and Simba began to drag his leg and could not feel it.
When his leg started to function again slowly, he would bite and lick it excessively, and he had to wear a collar for a long time. Now he has completely recovered. He walks normally, his leg does not bother him, he is happy and healthy
.He has also undergone neurological examination and X-rays; the pellets cannot be surgically removed and he will carry them for the rest of his life, as badges of honor, with pride and grace. The chances of them bothering him again are negligible.
Simba is an exceptional dog. He has never caused a single problem at the shelter. He has been hosted in a home and is excellent. He is calm, quiet, polite, obedient, very clean, and he is amazing with the three cats (he lived with three) and with the other dogs.
He is excellent on walks and everywhere, and he is a dog we always recommend to people without experience who are looking for their first pet.

Arnie (reserved)
He appeared in the middle of the summer in a village one day, as do all dogs like him.
Frightened, hungry, and alone. Incredibly lonely.
He hid in the tyards of one of the neighborhoods, and went out every night to the tavern, begging from afar, like a ghost. He was caught very easily, with some bread thrown at him by the grandmother who sometimes fed him.
On it he had thousands of ticks, thousands, large and small, and dozens of horseflies.
When he was a stray in the village, he hung out a lot with a dog owner. Neutered her, he didn't. He would go outside her house, she through the yard he outside, and they rejoiced together.
She adored him and waited for him every morning and every afternoon, and he, though wretched, full of ticks and with incredible anemia, dragged his feet twice a day to go find her. When we picked him up from there, the dog waited for him for several days afterwards, and for a day or two he didn't eat, her owners told us.
And we look at him now, who has become incredibly beautiful, recovered, and his body and torso have been tied, and we think, "Boy, I wouldn't eat if I lost you either."
Arnie is a sturdy, serious, self-confident dog, and this confidence is passed on to the few dogs he hangs out with. Eve with whom he is together in the cage adores him, and he is with her a gentleman.
He respects her tremendously, and has helped her gain confidence in a way. She's a bit phobic, and it's like she has a rock stable and reliable next to her. And if we had to describe him as a dog in two words, that's what we would choose. Stable and reliable.
It is a serious animal. He will not make you crazy joys once he sees you, nor will he ignore you. He'll look at you with that incredibly deep look, he'll go for a walk with you (as we call it, you won't take him for a walk, he'll go with you), and that's how you'll coexist the first time after you take him home.
With calmness, cooperation, and stability.
Since the day he came, he hasn't soiled his cage once - we only clean it of dust and nothing else, and we've heard his voice once, maybe twice.
He passes between dogs freely without even turning to look at them, he is by no means reactionary, not with farm animals, not with people, not with anything, he exists in this world knowing exactly who he is.
He is vaccinated, neutered and healthy.

Paris (reserved)
And yet, this creature was found stray in Oropos when he was not even ten months old, very thin and incredibly good.
Paris is young in age and huge in size, and he will grow even bigger. He is very nice and cooperative with people, very kind to other animals, and in general he is incredibly cool and calm.
He always finds a place that suits him and lies down there, and generally spends most of the day lying down.
As a breed, Kangals are dogs of very high temperament, very intelligent and very loyal. Our Paris will need proper education from the beginning, with a family that will learn to respect her, and who will trust her to guide him properly.
They are dogs that are built to work long and hard, to protect and sometimes make their own decisions, but they can be excellent pets, like all dogs, as long as they have the right guidance from the start.
